Dean and Anne have a great love of all animals and have been
breeding alpacas since the year 2000, firstly at Charleston,
then moving to the slightly larger property at Kenton Valley
in 2004. We have fallen for these gentle and unique animals,
and now have a growing herd of 26 animals.
Charleston Alpaca females are named after flowers, while the
males after film stars of bygone days. Our small farm is being
developed for the easy and efficient handling of our alpacas
and to give them a good environment to live in.
Our aim is to breed high quality solid white Hyacayas with
dense soft fleeces using stud males from the nearby EP Cambridge
stud, who are leaders in the alpaca industry. Their award
winning males that we have used are Commisario, Gianmarco,
Ruffo, Spartacus, Conquistador and Encantador. These are all
sires of show winning champions in addition to such up and
coming males such as The Edge, Cavalier, The Boss and Tomcat.
In the future we will continue to use these champion males
in addition to exciting young ones coming through our own
program. Our breeding females have ancestors such as Jolimont
Oscar 11, Purumbete Brigantine, Purumbete Inti (from the famous
Highlander line) and Adelyn Highland Mist.
